Meet Darci Revier, Director of Education here at NETA! If you’ve met her, then you know she has a heart of joy that continuously shows her passion for fitness. Darci has been a part of our team for nearly 7 years! She started in 2015 as a National Presenter and began working for NETA full-time in her current position in 2018. She plays an essential role in the development of our curriculum, and there’s a pretty good chance you’ve taken one of the many in-person and virtual workshops she teaches!
We recently did a little Q&A session with Darci and thought you might enjoy getting to know a little bit more about her.
Q: What is your role at NETA?
A: My current role is the Director of Education. I get to have a hands-on role in our curriculum development, while working with our team of national presenters to deliver our live in-person and virtual workshops.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your current position
A: I really enjoy getting to interact and learn with our fitness professionals. I love seeing the excitement and energy they bring to workshops – the hunger to learn more, the desire to share their knowledge, and the passion to inspire others toward healthier living. Each location I’ve traveled as a presenter has stretched and grown me as a fitness educator and I’m so thankful for the opportunities I’ve gotten and the people I’ve met.
Q: How did you get started in the fitness industry?
A: I got started in the fitness industry in 2008 on a Marine Corps Air Station in Japan. I had an administrative role in the health promotions department and my supervisor at the time saw my interest and passion for the field. She poured into me over the 3 years I worked with her and really helped me grow in the industry.
Q: What are some of your favorite workshops to present and why?
A: I tell all my participants that I love anything nutrition and could talk about it all day . However, as far as more hands-on training goes, I’ve really been enjoying the workshops in our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program. Each time I present one I feel I grow as a yoga instructor – even though I’ve taught each workshop numerous times. It’s a joy to see participants open up and find their “voice” over the one- and two-day trainings.
Q: What advice would you give to those just starting out in the fitness industry?
A: Never forget why you started! Fitness professionals are some of the most passionate individuals I’ve come into contact with, yet just as with any occupation, it can become tedious and overwhelming at times….as well as super easy to burn-out! Take time regularly remind yourself of what fuels your passion; save notes and feedback from clients and participants that are especially meaningful to look back on during those overwhelming times, and take advantage of industry conferences like NETA’s FitFest! Connecting with other passionate professionals and learning together is the best way to restoke your fire. Oh! And never stop learning.
Q: What is one fun or unique fact about yourself you would like to share?
A: I greatly enjoy distance running (I’ve completed around 15 full marathons, including Boston, and countless half’s) AND true crime podcasts, which can make an interesting combination when out on a solo run!
In addition to her love for any and everything fitness, Darci enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons and is anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby No. 3 in July! It’s a good thing she likes to keep busy as Darci and her family are also relocating from North Carolina to Missouri in July. She wanted to share she is thankful for the flexibility NETA offers to work, teach, and inspire from across the country!
