Fitness enthusiasts love group exercise classes for the guidance and motivation of the instructor, the energy and shared support of participants, and the accountability a group-setting provides. However, addressing the individual needs, goals, and abilities of a diverse group, and ensuring each is working at appropriate levels can be a challenge for instructors – both in-person and when teaching virtually. Participants in this workshop will learn the benefits of zone training in group exercise; how to demonstrate proper cueing for self-monitoring of zone levels, and how to create a dynamic and cohesive class that will also meet the needs of the individual.
Participants in this workshop must have access to a device capable of connecting to a Zoom meeting, to include a functioning webcam and mic. Access to a heart-rate monitor or self-tracking device is recommended, but not necessary to participate.
