Yoga practice has long been recognized as a means of improving mindfulness, but the benefits of yoga on the brain extend beyond a mind-body connection. A growing body of research points to yoga as a means of enhancing mental clarity and focus; increasing cognitive function; and improving attention, memory, and overall cognitive processing. Further, yoga has been shown to improve executive function and working memory in older adults and support neuroplasticity and brain health in aging individuals. This three-hour workshop will dive into the research surrounding yoga and cognitive function, identifying specific practices that may be incorporated into class programming to support the brain health of participants of all ages and stages of life.
Yoga and Cognitive Health is NOT a part of the NETA 200 Hour Yoga Program curriculum, and may only be used for continuing education credits.
