HIIT is the buzzword in the fitness industry right now, and for good reason. This high intensity workout has the potential to burn a maximum number of calories in a minimum amount of time, if done correctly. However HIIT, which stands for high intensity interval training, may seem intimidating to individuals who are just starting out on their fitness journey or to those who may be more comfortable with traditional exercises.
NETA has created an innovative way to incorporate a traditional group exercise class, stepping, and HIIT to develop a fusion class that will appeal to participants of all ages and fitness levels. In the above teaching tip video, Darci, NETA’s Director of Education, demonstrates how to incorporate a non-traditional step move, the burpee, into the beat and choreography of a traditional step class. By incorporating non-traditional activities in a traditional class, as well as offering multiple levels of difficulty, you can attract a wide variety of group exercise class participants.
