Meet Cayla McAvoy! National Presenter for NETA! Cayla’s passion for fitness and teaching has led her down an incredible career path that sometimes feels like a dream! From her earlier days as a dancer to teaching hip hop classes as a student at Indiana University, her love for teaching has been her guiding light. It’s what led her to receive an MS in Exercise Physiology and eventually pursue a career in fitness teaching. When the opportunity presented itself, Cayla did not hesitate to step into what would become a lifelong career in fitness and transforming the lives of those around her.
Cayla began her career as an Assistant Director of Fitness at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she would travel and host NETA Workshops. This allowed her to work with many of the NETA instructors and staff, which eventually helped her land her dream job as a NETA National Presenter, and the rest is history! Working with NETA has been the opportunity of a lifetime! Her favorite workshop is Yoga Foundations, and with it, the role that the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training has been in helping individuals obtain a Yoga Certification. She gives credit to how much the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training has changed her life and so many others. Yoga should be something that everyone can enjoy and NETA makes that possible. She loves that NETA has found a way to make a 200-hour program accessible and do-able. There’s something quite unique about the way NETA is able to deliver this material in a way that works for fitness professionals, that includes great payment options and course delivery. Cayla loves that she gets to be a part of people’s 200-hour journey, and is proud to work for an organization that makes this program attainable!
One of the things she loves most about presenting Yoga Foundations is watching students “come alive” as they start their journey with Yoga! It’s the beauty of seeing how tangible the process of learning yoga is and the ability to truly see students grow in the moment. She finds that many students are often astonished by just how much Yoga has to offer, so it’s a real treat for her to have the opportunity to kick them off on their journey! Cayla says that you can study Yoga your entire life, and yet there is still so much to learn. She says to be successful in the fitness industry, just remember you are a lifelong learner. Cayla has been a fitness pro for over 10 years now, and is constantly learning new techniques and ideas to help people. Her words of wisdom have been to “Take on the “always a student” mentality, practice what you preach, and you will be on your way to changing lives!” We are so thankful to have Cayla with us, her light and love for what we do here at NETA continues to be an inspiration for all of us!
Cayla is currently working on her Ph.D., and studying Social Support for Physical Activity. She’s certainly not done changing lives, and we love to see her continue to shine!
