2/16 NEW! Re-defining “Health” in the Fitness Setting: 6:00pm—7:00pm CST
During this webinar, participants will gain foundational knowledge about the harmful effects of diet culture and weight stigma in exercise settings. The presenter will examine the social determinants of health and how they are often overlooked in mainstream fitness spaces and will address why it’s vital for fitness professionals to develop understanding of concepts such as health equity in order to create more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming fitness spaces for all.

Presenter: Sadie Simpson is a NETA-Certified Personal Trainer. She helps other fitness pros disengage from diet culture so they can improve program enrollment, engagement, impact, and retention without shame and manipulation. Sadie has a Master of Arts degree in health education and promotion from East Carolina University. She currently works as a personal trainer at All Bodies Movement and Wellness, an inclusive personal and small-group training studio in Asheville, NC.
2/17 NEW! Improving Digestive Health in Athletes: 6:00pm—7:00pm CST
Athletes and people engaging in recreational activities often experience gastrointestinal issues during exercise or other times of the day. Addressing these symptoms through dietary interventions and optimizing the gut microbiome can be helpful strategies for improving overall health and exercise performance. This webinar will help exercise professionals understand the relationship that digestive health plays in those engaging in physical activity.

Presenter: Jody Garlick is a Registered Dietitian and the owner of South Hills Nutrition in Pittsburgh, PA, with over 14 years of experience as a dietitian. She is also currently a doctoral candidate in the health science and exercise leadership program at Pennsylvania West University (formerly California University of PA) and holds a Master of Science degree in exercise science and health promotion, and an undergraduate degree in dietetics.

Sitting at a desk all day is hard on bodies, but it doesn’t have to be. This straightforward yoga workshop will teach you simple poses and exercises you can do right at your desk. Learn how to relieve stress and tension, increase energy and improve well-being. Ideal for everyone, even those new to yoga.

Presenter: Gretchen Clore is a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200 and RYT 500 as well as a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Gretchen currently instructs yoga classes at Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation in Indiana. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University.

More than 1 million women in the United States experience menopause each year. Many of these women find that many of the strategies they used to use to lose weight and maintain fitness are no longer working. Presenter: Jennifer Kramer is a NETA National Presenter, national Board-Certified Health Coach (NBHWC), ACSM-Certified Personal Trainer, ACE-Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYTâ 200). She holds a Master’s degree in health coaching and nutrition from Maryland University School of Integrative Health. Jennifer’s passion is helping women understand their metabolism and co-create customized plans for optional health and wellness.
2/19 NEW! Using Exercise to Improve Attention and Behavior in Youth with ADHD: 12:00pm—2:00pm CST
This presentation will introduce participants to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and how its associated symptoms affect various aspects of executive function in children and adolescents. The presenter will discuss the prevalence of ADHD among youth, traditional treatments, and current research supporting the use of acute and chronic exercise for improving symptoms of ADHD. Finally, participants will learn practical strategies for integrating effective and intentional physical activity into the home, school, and sports environment.

Presenter: Jeff Kreil is currently a doctoral candidate in health science at Pennsylvania West University and full-time faculty at Moorpark College in Moorpark, CA. He holds a Master of Science degree in exercise science and a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology. Jeff maintains several NCCA-accredited certifications including the NSCA-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, and ACE-Certified Group Fitness Instructor. In 2013, he was the recipient of the South Central Regional Consortium Award for “Excellence in Teaching.”

Long hours, heavy workloads, job insecurity, and conflicts with co-workers are all factors of increased stress in the workplace, leading to physical manifestations of pain and chronic disease, and cognitive, social, and emotional burnout. Yoga practices can aid in alleviating the signs and symptoms of workplace stress, while equipping the individual to better deal with the day-to-day stressors themselves. This workshop will identify specific elements of yoga to alleviate and deal with stress; workplace-friendly practices to be done individually or as a group; and strategies for marketing oneself in a corporate setting.

Mindfulness techniques have been used and proven to help individuals manage symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and more! The techniques found in this workshop differ from yoga in that it teaches individuals to shift their body and attention from a working state (exercise) to a calm state which aims to enhance focus and relaxation.
